Lead-up to Christmas

On the countdown to Christmas – again!

Look at the store for Christmas card designs!

Psalms illuminated discounted to $50!

As I open boxes of Psalms as they arrived from the printer, I am finding some whose covers have one or two tiny (1-2mm) pockmarks, where fragments of packaging are embedded in them. I sponge off the cardboard shards, but the faint dints remain.

Accordingly, I am reducing the price of all Psalms illuminated, and your copy may have a slight dint somewhere on the cover.

Who said ‘Christmas’?

I have 2 new Christmas card designs, based on 2 new pictures, and a range of others based on my Psalms illustrations. Check out the card designs below, and the store to place an order.

Errors found in The Psalms illuminated!

A heartfelt apology: An Errata

I was appalled recently to find errors in the Biblical text of The Book of Psalms illuminated.

It would have been insignificant if they were in my own words, but to find them in the text of the Scriptures was grievous, even though, in the Lord’s grace, none conflict with its sense.

Having checked the whole against the 2016 ESV, I drafted an Errata, and sent it with a covering apology to Crossway, who had kindly given me copyright permission to use their translation. Extending their generosity, they have now agreed to an Errata, listing significant corrections, to be included as a bookmark in all unsold copies, and available free from the Store page on my website.

As I am now doing, with my apologies to all.

Even with painstaking care, errors intrude. ‘Declare me innocent from hidden faults’, Psalm 19 prays. The book is not perfect, as I already know from its illustrations and discussion. (Although mostly I place the Kimberley in WA, on p180, I teleport it to NT, having begun my camping road trip from Darwin.)

Although this is an unreserved Mea culpa, I don’t want to be guilty of the presumptuous sin (19 again) of histrionics (my initial response was to withdraw the book). Think of the ‘Naughty Bible’ published in 1631, which omitted ‘not’ from the 7th commandment in Exodus 20…

Looking at next year, if your church or other group would like a tailored presentation of the Psalms and selected paintings next year, please be in touch.

Introducing The Book of Psalms illuminated – Launch Dates Inside

In joy and grief, doubt and shining trust in the LORD their God, the ancient Hebrew poets expressed in their psalms the experience of those on the journey of faith. This book is a window inviting you to see them afresh and sing them today: the poets’ images transplanted into Australian soil, and their poetry celebrated in the patterns of the text.

In hardcover, 208 pages, Psalms illuminated elegantly presents the entire collection in the English Standard Version, with over 250 full-colour illustrations of Tasmania, the Kimberley WA, Gariwerd (The Grampians) Victoria, the Red Centre NT, and the Hunter, NSW.

The volume concludes discussing the artist’s exploration of the psalms and their commonly-used words, and for each psalm, (very) brief notes and title of its illustration connecting it to the text.
